For the 8th year the International Digital Film Festival PLATFORMA VIDEO9 took place on 3-6 December 2009 at BIOS Cultural Centre. The festival hosted 120 films from all over the world in two competition sections, as well as a series of film tributes to international festivals, to music festivals and to ethnographic documentary.
PLATFORMA VIDEO8 International Digital Film Festival took place on 7-10 November 2008 at Technopolis City of Athens Cultural Centre. The festival hosted 202 films from all over the world in two competition sections and a series of film tributes (Festivals Tribute, Nuclei, Eye on Israel, ANTHROPOS), media literacy initiatives such as the audiovisual workshop PLATFORMA in motion as well as seminars, open discussions on audiovisual culture, a photographic exhibition and numerous parallel events and parties. The festival concluded with the award ceremony, which took place on Monday November 10, 2008 in front of a large audience, while a grand closing party followed! Festivals' Awards In Platforma Selection 20 films from around the world competed upon the Festival's Jury. The Grand Prize of PLATFORMA VIDEO8 International Digital Film Festivalwas awarded to the swedish fiction film Galetten by John Hellberg (2008, 22΄). Jury's Special Mention to a Greek film was awarded to the animation short film Homecoming by Sokratis Galiatsatos (2007, 4΄37΄΄). Special mentions were also awarded by the Festival's Jury to the documentaries, Songhua by J.P.Sniadecki from USA and Salaam Aleykum Copenhagen by Saso Niskac a co-production from Slovakia, Slovenia and Denmark. The Audience Prize of PLATFORMA VIDEO8 was awarded to the documentary Poli Problema by the Documentary workshop of the adults education programme of the College of Athens that received the majority of votes by the festivals audience.
